Stop hunting for the line item you can't remember the name of

Novice or expert, the search problem is the same: you know the work, not what Xactimate calls it. Describe the thing and let a model trained on real estimates find the code.

The search problem every estimator shares

Whether you are a novice or a complete expert, you run into the same wall in Xactimate: the line item you need is either slipping your mind or you genuinely do not know what that thing is called. Keyword search cannot help you when you do not have the keyword.

The tool in this video attacks that directly. Millions of line items from a career of written estimates went into a large language model, so the search understands descriptions of work, not just exact code names.

Keyword search cannot help you when you do not have the keyword.

Four ways to ask

QuickFind is the simple case: ask for the line item for carpet and get it. SimilarScope returns the related and alternate line items that travel with it, which is how codes stop getting left off the scope.

FuzzySearch handles the item you cannot name. Type what you know, like what is under a vinyl floor, and as long as you are specific enough, the model identifies the line item you meant. AutoScope goes furthest: describe the loss itself and it returns the line items the estimate needs.

A learning tool as much as a lookup

For a novice, describing a loss and seeing which codes come back is a way to learn how estimates get written, not just a shortcut. For a veteran, it is the end of stalling mid-estimate over a name. Either way the pitch at the close of the video is the same: write more accurate scopes, be more efficient, and maybe get home a little earlier. The tool itself was free to use.

That lookup idea, sketched a few weeks earlier as XactChat, grew into how Axiom suggests codes today, inside a room-organized draft your estimator reviews before any ESX is downloaded. The model proposes. The estimator decides.
